Soumyashanto Mandal

Soumyashanto Mandal is an urban planner. His core areas of work and research are Infrastructure, peri-urban development and sustainability. He has worked on several projects in the urban domain including the Revised Master Plan for Bangalore (for 2031) and Perspective Plan for Machilipatnam (for 2051) across the areas of sustainability, infrastructure, open spaces, land use strategies and road network. Within the PEAK programme, his work focusses on industrial corridors, mega infrastructure and associated dynamics. He has taught courses in Sustainability, Sociology & Human Settlements and Urban Development at National Institute of Technology-Calicut. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from National Institute of Technology- Tiruchirappalli (2010), and a master’s degree in Planning with specialisation in Urban and Regional Planning from CEPT University Ahmedabad (2012). He was a recipient of the GICEA Gold Medal and the Best Thesis Award at CEPT University.
