We will put forward a new theoretical framework to study the development of mega-city regions and metropolitan areas under the recent national strategy of new-type urbanization and rural vitalization.
Professor Guangzhong Cao received his PhD in Peking University in 1998. Now he is the Head of the Dept. of Urban and Economic Geography, College of Urban and Environmental Sciences at Peking University. He is also the associate director of the Population Geography Committee of the Geographical Society of China (GSC) and the council member of the Urban Geography Committee of the GSC.
Prof. Cao mainly majors in urban geography and population geography. His recent research interests are urbanization, urban and regional development, migration and urban land use in China. He has published more than 50 papers. Prof. Cao is the principle investigator of a project supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China: The Interaction and Coevolution between Metropolitan and Non-metropolitan Area Development in Beijing-Tianjin-North Hebei Region (Grant No.41371166). He is in the board committee of PEAK Urban program and he is the leader of the project “Mega-city Region and Metropolitan Area Development”.
